On 23 April, the Minister of Transport announced the winners of the CARB'AERO call for projects for France 2030. This scheme aims to finance the development of a French production sector for sustainable aviation fuels. The Take Kair project, led by Hynamics, the EDF Group's hydrogen subsidiary, and Meridiam, a company with a mission for investment and long-term management of sustainable public infrastructure, is one of the 4 winners.

Take Kair is an innovative project for the construction and operation of a synthetic fuel production plant, e-kerosene, on the Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port in Donges (44). E-kerosene, produced from renewable and low-carbon hydrogen, is indeed one of the solutions to limit CO2 emissions and contribute to the fight against global warming.

Take Kair will thus make it possible to divide CO2 emissions by 5 compared to the use of fossil-based kerosene.

The deployment and incorporation of synthetic fuels in kerosene are the main lever for decarbonizing air transport, in addition to the sobriety of uses and the improvement of the energy efficiency of aircraft. The incorporation obligations mentioned in the ReFuel EU regulation that are imposed on aviation fuel distributors offer significant prospects for the consumption of e-kerosene and therefore low-carbon and renewable hydrogen until 2050.

In a world that is actively seeking sustainable solutions to fight climate change, Hynamics has emerged as a key player in the development, construction and operation of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production infrastructure. With its experience in the decarbonization of heavy mobility and industrial processes, Hynamics is developing a project through Take Kair to indirectly electrify, through the manufacture of synthetic fuels produced from electrolytic hydrogen, new sectors such as aviation.

Meridiam is a specialist in the infrastructure of tomorrow, particularly in the areas of sustainable mobility and innovative clean solutions. With more than €87 billion in invested capital since its creation, Meridiam contributes to the operation, construction or development of more than 130 assets worldwide.

The Take Kair project is supported by the Government as part of the France 2030 plan operated by ADEME for an amount of €16.6 million.

This participation will contribute to the financing of the conduct of the engineering studies of the Take Kair project.
